Kenny Chesney Concert To Hit Theaters

Feeling a little bit country, Sony Pictures said Sunday that it will bring popular performer Kenny Chesney to movie theaters in April in a limited-engagement concert film, “Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3D.”

Director Joe Thomas shot footage during Chesney’s recently concluded Sun City Carnival concert tour. Over six nights in five locations, he employed 22 3D camera rigs, including systems from 3ality Digital, which were outfitted with Sony 1500-series professional digital cameras.

The film will be released through Sony’s new business unit, the Hot Ticket, set up to bring cultural and entertainment events to digital theaters.

“If you’re a diehard Kenny Chesney fan who just couldn’t get close enough this past summer, or even if you did and want to live those songs and fun again, even closer, ‘Kenney Chesney: Summer in 3D’ is the perfect way to experience the intensity even closer than the front row,” Sony worldwide distribution president Rory Bruer said.
