Twilight Author Has Mum And Sister To Thank For Book Success

Twilight creator Stephenie Meyer has publicly thanked her mum and sister for turning a dream she had about a vampire romance into a megabucks book and film franchise.

The author was a sleep-deprived Utah housewife when she started writing what was to become the first book in her Twilight Saga back in June 2003, and she admits it took her sister’s determination to turn an idea into a lucrative publishing deal.

In a rare interview on Oprah on Friday, the reclusive author admitted she never thought about seeking a book deal until her sister urged her to go public with her fascinating story.

She said,

“It seemed kind of presumptuous to me that anyone else would want to read the things that are in my head… It wasn’t a book in my head… My sister really had egged me on to publish… Emily is the reason why it’s out there.”

And her mother helped her perfect the ending to her second book, New Moon, which has been adapted into a much-anticipated movie sequel and will be released globally next week.

She added,

“There was a different ending to New Moon… It was a much quieter book.

“I was telling my mom about it… and my mom’s like, ‘Y’know Stephenie, maybe a little more action at the end would be a good idea…’ And she was right, as usual… I introduced the Volturi (vampires) a little bit earlier in the series than I was planning… It’s kind of like my favorite part now.”
