Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler Enters Rehab

Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler entered a rehab facility over an addiction to prescription painkillers, according to the Web site.

“With the help of my family and team of medical professionals, I am taking responsibility for the management of my pain and am eager to be back on the stage and in the recording studio with my bandmates Joe Perry, Joey Kramer, Tom Hamilton and Brad Whitford,” Tyler said in a statement to the mag.

In recent months, Tyler’s health was thrust into the spotlight when his bandmate, guitarist Joe Perry, told the Associated Press, “He’s got to get his act together.” Perry’s comments came after an Aerosmith tour was canceled due to injuries the singer sustained after falling from a stage in the summer.

And in his statement, Tyler said he has the backing of his band in seeking treatment.

“I love Aerosmith; I love performing as the lead singer in Aerosmith,” Tyler’s statement continued. “I am grateful for all of the support and love I am receiving and am committed to getting things taken care of.”

Liv Tyler, Steven’s daughter with former model Bebe Buell, also said she supported her father.

“My family and I are in complete support of my dad’s decision to seek treatment. He is a courageous man. We love him and are so proud that he is getting help to balance his pain management, not just for himself but for his family, friends and fans,” she said.

Good to see. Everyone knew that Steven wasn’t himself. That dude lives and breathes Aerosmith and for him to be so distant there had to be an aggravating factor. I like too how he says he will be ready to rock with the band the minute he is well.
