Report: Jennifer Lopez + ‘American Idol’ = A Done Deal

Looks like there’s going to be a seat at the “American Idol” judges table for Jennifer Lopez after all.

According to TMZ, JLo is in final stages of negotiations with “American Idol” producers — and it’s almost a done deal.

Producers believe that the singer is the key to re-energizing the show, and a decision could be announced at early as next week.

Steve Tyler, Jessica Simpson and Shania Twain have also been rumored to be joining the hit FOX series.

Is Chris Isaak the Final Piece in the ‘Idol’ Judge Puzzle?

As one of people being considered as an “American Idol” judge, singer Chris Isaak has a few ideas on how he’d do the job.

“When I went in to interview with them, I said ‘Can we actually physically reprimand people for bad performances?’ They said ‘Chris, no, it’s just a TV show,’ Isaak told “Extra’s” Lauren Sanchez at a sound check for his Tuesday concert at L.A.’s Greek Theater. “That kind of let me down right there.”

The crooner also had some ideas on how the judges should interact.

“I proposed this to them — and they never got back to me — but I said that maybe J.Lo could be a judge, and I wouldn’t talk as much as I would rub butter on her.”

This guy oughta save the show!

Report: Steven Tyler Definitely an ‘Idol’ Judge

It looks like one “American Idol” judge rumor is true — Steven Tyler is taking one of the spots on the panel this season, reports the Associated Press.

A source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told AP the Aerosmith frontman confirmed his involvement. The source said Wednesday, “there is no reason to refute” Tyler’s account.

The official announcement has yet to come from the show’s producers, however, leaving the guessing game of who will replace Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres.

Returning producer Nigel Lythgoe told “Extra” he wants a three-judge panel, with minimal drama.

“As far as I’m concerned, I would like the attention to go on the kids, because it’s about the talent that comes on this show to sing.”

As this debacle unfolds, I can’t help hearing in my head REM’s “It’s The End Of The World American Idol As We Know It”.

DioGuardi’s Dad: Kara ‘Disappointed’ By Fox

Inside a deathly dull interview from New York TV show “Capital Tonight” with Republican senate candidate Joe DioGuardi, some “American Idol” news. Joe confirms his daughter Kara is on the chopping block, as we’ve all heard, but also reveals she’s being given the silent treatment by Fox and Co. and isn’t very happy about it.

“Would you believe she did not hear — and still has not heard — anything?” the elder DioGuardi said. “She read it the way you did and I did. Her disappointment is that that’s the way she’s being treated and she feels that’s not proper. I think they’re trying to create a lot of buzz … they’re trying to reformat the thing. But Kara has a very deep career in music … she’ll be fine. Would she want to do it another year? I think so … I think at some point [she] will confront them on that.”

Crystal Bowersox Always Wanted To Fix Her Teeth

Crystal Bowersox set the Twitter-verse abuzz recently when she posted a picture of her smile, showing off brand new pearly whites.

“It was something I’ve always wanted to do,” the “Idol” runner-up told PEOPLE Friday at “Good Morning America,” where she performed with winner Lee DeWyze. “I had braces when I was young and I couldn’t afford to finish treatment.”

Bowersox, who split with her boyfriend before the “Idol” finale, had previously turned down an offer to get her teeth done for free earlier this year, saying that she was beautiful the way she was. Why the change of heart?

“I had turned down an offer that I thought was very rude,” Bowersox, 24, says. “There was a dentist that made a public offer — he didn’t contact me personally, and so I turned him down publicly. It’s not that I didn’t want to do it. I’ve always wanted to do it.”

Bowersox, who is currently on the “American Idols Live Tour,” admits that her new teeth are a boost.

“I’m smiling with pure confidence for the first time in my life,” she said. “And it’s a good thing.”

‘Idol’ Summer Tour Nixes 7 Shows, Moves Up Others

Filed under: Adam Lambert,American Idol,Dancing With The Stars

“American Idol” is voting off several stops on its summer tour.

Seven shows on the American Idol Live! Tour have been canceled while others have been changed, according to a revised schedule released by tour organizer Live Nation.

The tour featuring the ninth season’s top 10 singers was originally planned to end Sept. 16 in Portland, Maine, but is now scheduled to stop on Sept. 14 in Pittsburgh.

Live Nation spokeswoman Liz Morentin declined to comment on the reason behind the move.

The canceled stops include Omaha, Neb.; Kansas City, Mo.; Winnipeg, Manitoba; Toronto; Buffalo, N.Y.; and Cleveland.

Shows have been moved up in cities such as Des Moines, Iowa; Minneapolis; Chicago; and Toledo, Ohio.

The Fox singing contest, which has long been TV’s top-rated series, faced falling viewership during its ninth season and at times was bested by ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” in the ratings.

A total of 24.2 million viewers watched the final duel between Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox, compared to the nearly 29 million viewers who saw Kris Allen win over Adam Lambert last year.

The show is over! Stick a fork in it!

Julianne Hough Keeps Coy On Ryan Seacrest Rumors

Filed under: American Idol,Dancing With The Stars,Julianne Hough,Ryan Seacrest

Country singer and “Dancing With The Stars” pro Julianne Hough isn’t making her romantic life public, but she is giving hints that rumors linking her to “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest are true.

When asked Tuesday whether she is dating Seacrest, Hough laughed and said that she wasn’t going to confirm or deny anything. While she answered, Hough looked up and to the right with a coy smile on her face.

Hough went on to say: “Ryan’s great. He’s a really good guy.”

Hough was in Nashville to participate in the ACM Lifting Lives Music Camp for people with Williams Syndrome. She sang karaoke with the campers at a local bar and signed autographs.

Lautner Loves American Idol

Twilight star Taylor Lautner is a huge fan of TV talent show American Idol – because he’s tone deaf.

The hunky actor boasts he has never missed an episode in nine years – but it’s not because he has secret musical dreams.

He says,

“I can’t sing, which is the funny thing, so maybe that’s why I like watching it so much. I know there’s no way I can do that.

“I think there is a statement in my contract promising there will be no musical numbers!”
