Gossip Girl hunk Chace Crawford is dating Watchmen star Malin Akerman’s sister, according to reports.

The actor, who briefly dated country star Carrie Underwood, has been spotted at parties with model Jennifer Akerman.

A source says,

“They’ve known each other for a while, but now it looks like they’re dating… Jennifer is adorable and exactly his type.”

Ortega Quits Footloose

The upcoming remake of classic 1984 dance movie Footloose has been thrown into jeopardy after director Kenny Ortega quit the project, according to reports.

The High School Musical filmmaker was said to have been unhappy with the tone and budget of the update and decided he no longer wanted to be involved in its production, reports trade paper Daily Variety.

A spokesperson for Paramount Pictures has refused to confirm speculation about Ortega’s reasons for leaving, but hinted his recent work on the Michael Jackson movie This Is It has taken its toll on the director.

He says,

“Coming off of the extraordinary project, Michael Jackson’s This Is It, director Kenny Ortega has decided it is premature for him to commit to his next film and will not be moving forward with Footloose as previously reported.”

Filming is scheduled to begin in March, with Chace Crawford and Julianne Hough set to play the lead roles.

Swift Gets Moral Support From Crawford

Taylor Swift found a new shoulder to cry on at New York’s Kings Of Leon concert on Monday night after actor Chace Crawford offered her advice after her Kanye West moment the night before.

The actor spotted the country singer at the concert, dashed to her side and gave her a hug – offering her moral support after her Best Female Video award acceptance speech at Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards was interrupted by the rude rapper.

An concertgoer tells UsMagazine.com, “He said, ‘I’m so proud of you. Don’t let anyone ever take your spotlight ever again.’ “Chase is like an older brother type and is very protective over her.”

Insiders insist there’s nothing but friendship going on between the couple, although Swift did once confess the Gossip Girl star was her dream prom date.
