Pinsky Confirms Haim Was Top Target For Rehab Show

TV drug counselor Dr. Drew Pinsky has confirmed reports producers reached out to actor Corey Haim to be a part of his Celebrity Rehab show in the weeks before the tragic star overdosed.

And now Dr. Drew Pinsky has opened up about attempts to persuade Haim to get help for his drug problems.

Pinsky says, “Our producers reached out recently to him but he was angry.”

The TV doctor admits he had been made well aware of Haim’s issues by concerned friends and fans:

“People have been reaching out to me about him for years. His name has come up on every season of Celebrity Rehab.

“Even people on Twitter were contacting me asking me to do something for poor Corey Haim. Well I would have been happy to.”

Haim Approached By Celebrity Rehab Days Before Death

Actor Corey Haim rejected offers for a televised intervention on Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew in the final days before he died of an apparent drug overdose.

The 38-year-old star collapsed at his home in Oakwood, California in the early hours of Wednesday morning and was taken to St Joseph’s hospital in Burbank, where he was pronounced dead.

The troubled actor had long battled prescription drug abuse and he made a reported 15 trips to rehab in a bid to kick his demons.

Ironically, Celebrity Rehab casting directors pitched the show to Haim’s mother last October, and followed up with the actor within the last 10 days, in an effort to help him get his life back on track.

According to TMZ.com, Haim shot down the offer to appear on Dr. Drew Pinsky’s show, and ended a brief conversation with casting bosses, saying, “I do not need help.” A source close to the TV show also told the website Haim was “extremely defensive and insulted,” and stated, “It’s the last show I’d ever do.”

According to Los Angeles Coroner’s Office, there were no signs of foul play in Haim’s death. The cause of death will be released pending the results of his autopsy and toxicology reports.

Drunk Rodman Booted From Eatery

Filed under: Dr. Drew, Drunk, Reality TV

On the same day as the premiere of the new season of “Celebrity Rehab,” Dennis Rodman was drinking vodka in an O.C. restaurant … and eventually had to be escorted out by police.

It all went down Thursday — law enforcement sources tell TMZ that Rodman was drinking at a restaurant called Waterfalls inside the Atrium Hotel. We’re told cops were called after several patrons complained about Rodman’s behavior.

Sources at the restaurant say Rodman had at least one vodka drink before cops were called.

When police arrived, Rodman was cooperative with the officers and eventually agreed to leave without further incident.

The new season of “Celebrity Rehab” — of which Rodman is a part — premiered Thursday night.

Ouch!!!

Sizemore & Fleiss Come Face To Face On Rehab TV Show

Filed under: Dr. Drew, Drugs, Reality TV

Former couple Tom Sizemore and Heidi Fleiss had an awkward TV encounter when both appeared in hit U.S. show Celebrity Rehab… With Dr. Drew.

Ex-Hollywood Madam Fleiss signed up for the TV show in an effort to kick addictions to Vicodin and speed, but she didn’t think she’d come face to face with Sizemore, who was convicted of physically abusing her.

In a frosty encounter, Fleiss tells the actor, “You’re such a loser… The thought of being with you turns women gay.”

There’s other dramas on the upcoming third season of the show – fallen country star Mindy McCready sparks a medical emergency when she suffers convulsions and basketball bad boy Dennis Rodman is ordered to attend the Pasadena Recovery Center home of the series by a Los Angeles court.

The show premieres in America on 7 January.

Artie Lange Takes Aim At Celebrity Rehab

Filed under: Dr. Drew, Drugs, Drunk

late show 230806

Outrageous American comedian Artie Lange has taken aim at the producers of hit U.S. reality show Celebrity Rehab – insisting the popular program exploits stars seeking help with their addictions.

A regular on shock jock Howard Stern’s radio show, Lange was offered a spot on the series after years of publicly battling his own drug demons.

He pleaded recently guilty to driving under the influence of drugs in July, and confessed to police he had a prescribed sleeping pill in his system – but insists he is eight months sober from heroin and hasn’t taken cocaine since 1997.

And now he’s certain he made the right decision to get clean and sober without the help of Celebrity Rehab’s Dr. Drew – because he questions if producers would jeopardize his sobriety for the sake of TV drama.

He tells the New York Post,

“They offered me 200 grand ($200,000) to do Celebrity Rehab. I love Dr. Drew… but I don’t think that’s helping (relapsed actor) Jeff Conaway… They said it was about me getting better, but if I relapsed, they’re not going to air that? My mother knows I’ve done coke (cocaine), but she’s never seen me do it.”

Dr. Drew seems to have a HIGH FAIL rate!

DJ AM Not a Suicide

Filed under: DJ AM, Dr. Drew

Law enforcement sources directly connected with the death of DJ AM are saying his death was the result of an accidental overdose and not a suicide.

It is widely believed that DJ AM, a recovering addict developed a dependency on various anti-anxiety medications while recovering from his near fatal plane crash a year ago. Mostly these meds were prescribed to DJ to help alleviate his crippling fear of flying that developed after the plane crash. It is a well known fact that recovering addicts taking prescription medicines can quickly become addicted again.

Dr Drew Pinsky had this to say after hearing about the death of his good friend DJ AM.

There is just a profound lack of appreciation of the impact of prescription drugs on the disease of addiction. This time I lost a friend. Can’t tell you how often I have seen an Rx for anxiety or pain result in a full relapse on hard drugs. If the biology is activated even by appropriately prescribed medication, the disease awakens and progresses – really without exception.

Like Michael Jackson, it’s looking like the cause of death will be a combination of these medications along with Cocaine that ended up killing him.

Our condolences to his family and friends.
