Letterman’s Extortionist Pleads Guilty

The TV producer accused of blackmailing comedian David Letterman has been sentenced to six months in jail and five years probation after pleading guilty to one count of grand larceny in the second degree.

TV producer Robert Halderman was charged with attempted first degree grand larceny in October after reportedly threatening to expose The Late Show presenter’s affairs with employees unless Letterman paid $2 million (GBP1.25 million) to silence him.

Halderman, who was immediately suspended from his job as producer of CBS news show 48 Hours, claimed he was simply selling the star a “screenplay proposal relating to Letterman’s poor conduct” in a failed bid to get the case dismissed in January.

Manhattan state Supreme Court Justice Charles Solomon ruled Halderman’s would stand trial before a jury. However, Halderman struck a deal with prosecutors, and entered the guilty plea on 9 March.

Under the terms of the deal, Halderman will also serve 1,000 hours of community service.

Outside court, the producer told reporters, “I apologize to Mr. Letterman and his family… and certainly to my friends and family.”

Now Montag is joining the laugh brigade, with the help of Funny or Die and Oscar-winning Ron Howard, who’s directed a new video in which Montag stars.

Seeing this I have to again say, WHAT A SHAME! She was so beautiful before and now she looks plastic.

Hilton Ad Sparks Outrage In Brazil

An advertisement featuring Paris Hilton has sparked controversy in Brazil – a government official for women’s affairs is calling for the commercial to be removed due to its sexist undertones.

In the advert, Hilton can be seen sexually rubbing a can of Devassa beer on herself in an office building as passers-by stare at her antics.

But despite being fully clothed throughout the ad, officials at Brazil’s Women’s Secretariat reveal authorities have received several complaints about the “sensual nature” of the campaign.

A representative tells the Associated Press,

“It’s an ad that devalues women – in particular, blonde women.

“The problem with the ad isn’t a lack of clothing, but its sensual nature. A woman in a bikini on a beach isn’t necessarily sensual; it depends on the context.”

Three separate investigations have been launched by Brazil’s advertising watchdog to decide whether the commercial should be banned.
