Cage Caught Up In Car War
Filed under: Legal Issues, Nicolas Cage

First his houses now his cars!
Nicolas Cage is facing yet another legal battle after reportedly breaking the lease agreement on two classic Rolls Royce cars.
The star, who is currently fighting tax problems, is being sued for returning two luxury motors before his lease was paid in full.
TMZ.com reports Cage signed a 60-month lease agreement for a 1964 Rolls Royce Sciii in 2007, and added the lease of a 2002 Rolls Royce Corniche four months later.
The two cars were worth a combined $800,000.
When Cage learned of the extent of his financial problems last year, he returned both cars and the leasing company had to sell them.
Now, the leasing company is suing the actor for the money they lost by selling the car wholesale. The company wants more than $240,000 from Cage.

Lohan Confirms Ungaro Split
Filed under: Fashion, Legal Issues, Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Hohan has confirmed reports she has parted company with fashion house Emanuel Ungaro.
The Mean Girls star sparked rumors of a rift with the brand after she failed to show up at the Ungaro runway show at Paris Fashion Week in France on Monday, with owner Asim Abdullah explaining, “She’s not involved in this collection.”
When asked why she missed the display, Lohan – the company’s one-time artistic adviser – admitted she is no longer part of the Ungaro design team, telling Women’s Wear Daily, “I don’t work for them anymore.”
When pressed for further information, she added, “There’s legal things going on; I can’t really discuss it.”
Lohan’s debut collection with the brand in September was slated by fashion critics.
Mounir Moufarrige, who hired her to work for the design house, stepped down as company president in December.
Wow, another legal matter for Lohan. This family lives off lawsuits.

Lindsay’s Mom Is An Idiot Too!
Filed under: Dina Lohan, Legal Issues, Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan’s mum Dina has backed her daughter’s multi-million dollar legal battle over an ad which allegedly used the actress’ name and poked fun at her personal problems – branding the commercial “horrible” and “mean”.
The Mean Girls star is seeking $100 million in damages and compensation in connection with the promo for financial firm E-Trade, which depicts a baby girl called Lindsay as a boyfriend stealer and a “milkaholic”.
And now Dina Lohan has defended her daughter’s decision to sue, insisting the advert reduced the actress to tears during the Super Bowl celebrations.
Dina claims the 23 year old called her after the Super Bowl “extremely upset”, telling The New York Post,
“She said, ‘Mommy, help me. This is wrong. How can they do this?’”
Lohan’s mother is adamant the commercial was aimed at her daughter – insisting the name Lindsay has as much recognition as other single-word monikers, used by stars such as Madonna and Cher.
She adds,
“They’re little babies doing this, mocking another child who’s just trying to survive Hollywood, basically. I’m just basically glad I took a stand. I’m not going to let them do this to us anymore. Everyone knows Lindsay, like Cher or Madonna.”
Isn’t it ironic that both Lindsay and her mother realize how fucked up she is to even think the commercial was pointed to her. Even if the writer’s did have Lindsay in mind this lawsuit still isn’t going to fly.

Rapper Lil’ Wayne Sentenced To One Year
Filed under: Legal Issues, Lil Wayne

Lil’ Wayne was sentenced Monday to a year in prison.
The rapper, whose legal name is Dwayne Carter, pleaded guilty in October to felony gun charges as part of a deal with prosecutors.
The charges stem from his arrest in 2007 outside New York City’s Beacon Theater. According to police, Carter had a .40-caliber pistol on his tour bus. His attorney said it belonged to someone else.
His sentencing was delayed twice — first so he could get dental work done, including removal of his diamond-studded braces, then because of a fire at a Manhattan courthouse.
At Manhattan Supreme Court on Monday, the room was packed with onlookers, while more people crowded outside.
Carter was offered the chance to make a statement but declined, shaking his head.
His attorney requested that Carter have protective custody while he is incarcerated. The attorney also requested medical attention because of his recent dental surgery.
As Carter was leaving the courtroom, a fan said to him, “Keep your head up, Weezy,” using the rapper’s nickname.
Another man wore a T-shirt that said “Free Weezy.”
Carter also faces felony drug possession and weapons charges in Arizona.
Lil’ Wayne is a multiplatinum-selling and Grammy-winning rap artist. His hits include “The Block is Hot” and “Lollipop.” His album “Tha Carter III” was the top selling disc of 2008. His latest album, “Rebirth,” was released last month.
He’ll be out in 5 months with good behavior!

Lindsay Lohan Suing For $100 Million Over Baby Advert
Filed under: Legal Issues, Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Hohan has filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit over the advertisement above which allegedly used her name and parodied her life for profit.
The Mean Girls actress is seeking $100 million in damages and compensation over the commercial for financial firm E-Trade, which depicts a baby girl called Lindsay as a boyfriend stealer and a “milkaholic”, reports the New York Post.
The commercial shows a baby boy playing the stock market and apologizing to his girlfriend for not calling her the night before.
The baby girl then gets suspicious about a rival female baby, referring to her as “that milkaholic Lindsay”.
Lohan filed a lawsuit on Monday at Nassau County Supreme Court over the advert, which debuted on U.S. TV during the Super Bowl last month.
The actress’ lawyer, Stephanie Ovadia, claims Lohan’s first name is just as recognizable as other single-word monikers, used by stars such as Madonna and Cher.
Ovadia says,
“Many celebrities are known by one name only, and E-Trade is using that knowledge to profit. They used the name Lindsay. They’re using her name as a parody of her life. Why didn’t they use the name Susan? This is a subliminal message. Everybody’s talking about it and saying it’s Lindsay Lohan.”
The lawyer alleges company bosses used Lohan’s “name and characterization” without paying her or asking for her approval, thus violating her rights. Ovadia also insists the company has earned large profits from the promo because it would have been seen by millions of TV viewers watching the Super Bowl.
But chiefs at the advertising firm which created the commercial for E-Trade are dismissing the claims, insisting they chose the name Lindsay at random.
Chris Brown, a spokesperson for the Grey Group, says they “just used a popular baby name that happened to be the name of someone on the account team.”
Lohan is seeking $50 million in exemplary damages, as well as $50 million in compensation.
This is FUCKING HILARIOUS!!! Lindsay, I don’t know who is advising you but I sure hope you aren’t paying to file this lawsuit. This thing won’t get past Stage One!! You are truly insane! Go earn your money and quit looking for an easy pay day. E-Trade will EAT YOU ALIVE.

MTV Sued Over Alleged ‘Jersey Shore’ Brawl Cover-Up
Filed under: Jersey Shore, Legal Issues, MTV

The couple involved in an altercation with cast member Ronnie says their signed network waivers are irrelevant because they were intoxicated at the time.
A couple who were involved in a boardwalk brawl on an episode of MTV’s “Jersey Shore” have filed a lawsuit claiming the network edited the footage to cover up what actually transpired, entertainment Web site TMZ reported Friday.
Joshua Thomas and Kristin Perrenod say the reality show’s producers and MTV edited the incident “in a matter that was completely inconsistent with what really took place.”
The couple claims they have a DVD that contains raw footage of the fight which shows “Jersey Shore” cast members Ronnie and Sammi “Sweetheart” provoking them by yelling homophobic slurs and other insults.
In the episode that aired, a passerby is shown insulting Ronnie and Sammi as they walk on the boardwalk, and Sammi responds with trash talk of her own. A brawl ensues after Ronnie is seen charging the troublemaker.
Thomas and Perrenod also claim a release form they signed after the incident shouldn’t be considered valid because they were “clearly intoxicated” when they signed the waiver.
The couple is suing MTV, 459 Productions, Viacom, Ronnie and others for an unspecified amount, TMZ reported.

Levi Johnston Ordered To Pay Palin $18,500 In Back Child Support
Filed under: Legal Issues, Sarah Palin

An Alaskan judge ordered Levi Johnston to pay $18,500 in back child support for his 13-month-old son, Tripp, on Thursday.
Johnston, 19, will also pay $1,688.42 in child support to ex fiancee Bristol Palin, TMZ.com reports.
“Bristol is pleased with the court rulings today and looks forward to resolving the remaining issues with Levi,”
Palin’s lawyer, Thomas Van Flein, told TMZ.
Palin, 19, was present in court while Johnson, who most recently posed semi-nude in Playgirl, was a no-show.
According to court documents, Palin argued that Johnston earned $105,000 in 2009 — but only paid her $4,400.
“I have received limited and sporadic financial assistance from Levi,” she said in a sworn statement. Johnson’s manager, Tank Jones, argued that he had paid more than $10,000.
The couple announced their split last March.

Woman Sues Anderson Cooper After Fall At NYC Home
Filed under: Legal Issues

An interior designer is suing CNN anchor Anderson Cooper after she took an unusual fall at an old New York City firehouse that he is converting into a new home.
Killian O’Brien, of Brooklyn, says in her suit that she plunged 17 feet through the hole that once held the station’s fire pole. The pole had been removed, but the hole was uncovered.
The accident happened in September. Her lawyer, Neil Greenberg, says she is lucky to be alive.
Cooper’s spokesman declined to comment.
The Manhattan firehouse was built in 1906. It was the former home of a unit of the Fire Patrol, a private firefighting organization backed by the insurance industry.
O’Brien is also suing the developer of the building.

Jillian Michaels Sued Over Diet Supplement
Filed under: Legal Issues, Reality TV

A California woman is suing Jillian Michaels, claiming the celebrity trainer is endorsing a diet supplement that contains false advertising.
Christie Christensen on Tuesday sued Michaels, one of the stars of NBC’s “Biggest Loser.” She claims she bought a product emblazoned with Michaels’ picture and endorsement called “Calorie Control” last month and it has failed to lessen her appetite and she hasn’t lost any weight.
Christensen is seeking class-action status for her claims, which include untrue and misleading advertising. She is also suing Calorie Control’s maker, Utah-based Basic Research.
Michaels agent did not immediately return a call seeking comment. Basic Research said the company may issue a statement later today.
The lawsuit was first reported by celebrity Web site TMZ.

Sheen Charged With Felony Menacing
Filed under: Charlie Sheen, Legal Issues

Charlie Sheen has been charged with felony menacing, third degree assault and misdemeanor criminal mischief in court in Aspen, Colorado.
The actor did not enter a plea.
He and his wife Brooke Mueller were called to court to further address a Christmas Day fight, which landed Sheen behind bars after allegedly threatening his spouse with a knife.
Sheen faces two years behind bars if convicted on the charges against him.
There was good news for the actor – the judge overseeing the case agreed to relax a protective order against Sheen, so he and his wife can attempt a reconciliation. The order has been in place since just after Christmas Day.
In court, Sheen was told he could have communication and contact with Mueller but he is not allowed to drink alcohol, harass his wife or possess firearms, according to TMZ.com.
The actor flew up to Aspen from Los Angeles on Monday morning; Mueller flew in from North Carolina, where she has been attending a wellness clinic, over the weekend (06-07Feb10).
The couple has reportedly agreed to fly back to Los Angeles together.
