Lott was so excited yesterday before performing that she tweeted to fans that she was the only female act to appear on the main stage this year.

She looked gorgeous as fans crowded round to hear some of the 19-year-old’s biggest hits.

But she wasn’t alone in drawing in the crowds, Paloma Faith shocked in another flamboyant outfit, while Taylor Momsen, the 16-year-old US rock chick who made her name in Gossip Girl, also created a storm by wearing racy suspenders.

Man Jumps To Death Onto Stage At Calif Concert

THE SWELL SEASON

A 32-year-old man jumped at least 20 feet to his death onto the stage of a Northern California concert in front of hundreds of horrified music fans, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.

The Swell Season was playing an outdoor show at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga in front of a crowd of about 1,900 when Michael Edward Pickels of San Jose jumped Thursday night.

Authorities are treating Pickels’ death as a suicide, sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Rick Sung said.

Sung said the man left a friend in the audience around 10 p.m. and soon appeared on a roof that covers the stage. Witnesses say he jumped off the roof and landed on stage near the band’s lead singer, Glen Hansard.

Witnesses said Hansard removed his guitar and walked over to the man’s body.

The jumper was pronounced dead by a doctor in attendance who spent an hour trying to revive him.

The band extended its sympathies in a MySpace post Friday.

“Our hearts go out to the victim who decided to take his own life at last night’s gig … and to his friends and family,” the statement said.

Hansard and singer-songwriter Marketa Irglova are known in part for the alt-rock band’s role in the 2006 movie “Once.” The group wrote and performed the movie’s theme song, “Falling Slowly,” which won the Academy Award for best original song.

Promoter Live Nation said it would not change its concert schedule.

“We have ample security in place and trained safety staff at every concert and we are committed to ensuring the safety of all who come to Mountain Winery,” the group said in a statement. “At the same time, we are working with the local authorities in investigating this tragic incident.”

Wow first a band member jumps to his death at a concert and now a fan commits suicide at a show.

Eminem Set To Lead U.S. Album Chart For Sixth Week

Eminem will probably lead the U.S. pop album chart for a sixth week when sales data are issued next Wednesday. None of this week’s new releases are expected to dethrone his two-million-seller “Recovery.”

The biggest new entry next week could be R&B singer Kem’s third effort, “Intimacy,” with sales in the 75,000-80,000 unit range by week’s end on Sunday, say industry gurus. His last album, 2006′s “Kem II,” started at No. 5 with 140,000 sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Other albums on the hunt for a possible top 10 debut include Ray LaMontagne’s “God Willin’ & the Creek Don’t Rise,” Iron Maiden’s “The Final Frontier,” Trace Adkins’ “Cowboy’s Back in Town,” John Mellencamp’s “No Better Than This” and David Gray’s “Foundling.” Both LaMontagne and Iron Maiden could shift perhaps around 60,000, according to prognosticators, while Adkins is aiming for a figure near 45,000.

If “Recovery” makes it a seventh week at No. 1, it will be the first album to do so since Taylor Swift’s “Fearless” strung together 11 nonconsecutive weeks in the penthouse in late 2007 and early 2008.

Britney Spears Preps For New Album

Producer/songwriter Danja revealed he’s in the works on a new Britney Spears’ album.

The pop princess took a break from singing after wrapping up her “Circus” Tour last year, but Danja told Rap-UP TV,

“[He and Spears] are getting things together. I’ve actually been doing tracks that I love, and I can’t wait to go into full production mode, but we’re in pre-production more than anything.”

The producer, who has previously worked with Justin Timberlake and Nelly Fertado, said fans can expect a “hard-hitting” album from Spears.

“I’m definitely gonna do my part and try to make it hard-hitting, up tempo, high energy. That’s what I think we need and that’s what I’m gonna shoot for.”

Brian Wilson to Rejoin Beach Boys for 50th Anniversary Tour

Beach Boys member Mike Love said the band’s reclusive songwriter Brian Wilson will join the other surviving members for a 50th anniversary tour next year.

“We’re gearing up for the 50th anniversary and Brian Wilson, who has been working on some unfinished Gershwin music project, will rejoin us,”

Love said. Love has toured regularly with veteran Beach Boys members and other musicians under the Beach Boys name, while Wilson has performed sporadically since 2002 after spending years outside the spotlight.

Wilson will join Love and Al Jardine, the other surviving original member of the band, for the anniversary tour. Wilson’s brothers and bandmates, Dennis and Carl Wilson, died in 1983 and 1998, respectively. The surviving Beach Boys last appeared together in public at a press conference in 2006 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the group’s landmark album “Pet Sounds.”

Juliette Lewis Fights ‘Pampered Actress’ Rumors

Rocker Juliette Lewis constantly battles pre-conceived notions she is a “diva” after shooting to fame as an actress – but insists she was never pampered on movie sets.

The star has racked up more than 40 film credits since making her acting debut at 14, and had to tackle music critics’ bias when she decided to form her own rock band, Juliette and the Licks.

But Lewis is adamant acting is hard work, citing one particularly harrowing stunt she completed in a field of rattlesnakes while shooting Oliver Stone’s 1994 action movie Natural Born Killers.

Speaking on Britain’s Live from Studio Five, she recalls,

“That movie was a blast to do. It was very strange. It’s funny because people have all these pre-conceived notions ’cause I come from film so they think I’m gonna be pampered and precious and a diva coming into music. It couldn’t be more opposite because the kinds of movies I’ve done have all been really interesting, rough shoots. Very long hours, very strange environments.

“For instance (in Natural Born Killers), I remember walking through rattlesnakes. They were live rattlesnakes, and me and Woody (Harrelson) walked through them. The camera guy, just to put it in perspective, he said he wasn’t going to do it. He told Oliver, ‘I’m out, I’m out!’ Me and Woody were like, ‘Oh no.’

“There’s a rattlesnake wrangler, he’s like, ‘Don’t worry. They’re cold. When they’re cold they won’t attack you ’cause they’re curled up!’ But me and Woody, we were up for it.”

Singer Christina Aguilera Cancels Summer Tour

Pop singer Christina Aguilera on Monday canceled plans for a summer concert tour blaming work on a new film and an upcoming album that squeezed rehearsal time, according to a statement from her spokeswoman.

The singer will appear in new movie “Burlesque,” due in theaters later this year, and she is currently promoting a new album “Bionic,” which is set for release on June 8.

“The singer felt she needed more time to rehearse the show and with less than a month between the album release and tour date this wasn’t possible,” the statement said.

The North American tour had been set to start in July. New dates will be announced later this year, the statement said.

The first single from “Bionic,” a tune called “Not Myself Tonight,” debuted in March on Aguilera’s official website and became available on iTunes in April.

But after peaking at No. 23 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, the singer has also released a second single off her upcoming album, “Woohoo,” featuring rapper Nicki Minaj.

“Bionic” will be her first album of new music since 2006′s “Back to Basics.”

Police: Slipknot Bassist Found Dead In Iowa Hotel

Paul Gray, the bassist for Grammy-winning metal band Slipknot, was found dead Monday in an Iowa hotel room, police said.

A hotel employee found Gray, 38, dead in a room at the Town Plaza Hotel in Urbandale, a suburb of Des Moines, police said in a statement. Foul play isn’t suspected, and an autopsy is planned for Tuesday.

Amy Sciarretto, a publicist at the band’s record company, Roadrunner Records, confirmed Gray’s death but declined further comment. Most of the band’s members grew up in the Des Moines area.

Slipknot’s self-titled debut in 1999 sold more than a million copies.

Known for its grotesque masks, trashing sound and aggressive lyrics, the band won a Grammy in 2006 for best metal performance for the song “Before I Forget.” Concert industry trade publication Pollstar ranked Slipknot 18th in its Top 20 Concert Tours list in 2009.

Andy Hall, music director of Des Moines rock station Lazer 103.3, said he’d known Gray for 10 years. He described him as a talented bass player who was also one of the friendliest, most caring people he knew.

“This is a big blow, not only to the community of Des Moines but fans of metal at large, worldwide,” Hall said. “It’s a devastating loss. Paul was a wonderful human being.”

The station was planning to broadcast an hour-long tribute to Gray on Monday night.
