LeAnn Rimes “Taking a Break” From Twitter After Fans Slam Her
Filed under: Eddie Cibrian,LeAnn Rimes,Twitter

LeAnn Rimes — like Miley Cyrus before her– has departed the Twitterverse for the time being.
”
Taking a break from twitter for a while,” Rimes, 27, Tweeted on Wednesday. “It’s unhealthy for me and my family to have to read negative comments from people who’s [sic] opinions have no bearing on my life.”
The divorced country singer came under intense attack Tuesday for paparazzi shots of her making out with serial cheater Eddie Cibrian (with his young son inches away) in Santa Barbara, Calif.. “Since when is kissing your boyfriend a crime?!” she retorted on the micro blogging site. (Rimes and actor Cibrian got together on the set of a Lifetime flick in late 2008, when they were both still married to other people.)
In her swan-song Tweets Wednesday, Rimes explained,
“I love my fans so very much and will return one day soon. God bless to you all! I hope you understand. It’s time for me to focus on healing, my happiness and my music. I can’t wait to share it all with my fans soon!”
She added hopefully:
“There’s a million other ways to stay connected with my fans and I plan to focus on those! The most important, bringing you great music!
Good riddens, Whore!

Goldberg Warns About Twitter Impostor

Whoopi Goldberg has warned fans not to be fooled by a Twitter.com account set up in her name, insisting an impostor has been posting messages on her behalf.
The Oscar winner was stunned to discover someone had been pretending to ‘tweet’ as her online because she has never had any desire to join the celebrity micro blogging craze.
And she is keen to spread the word about the fake Whoopi.
Goldberg says,
“I need everybody on Twitter to know there is someone pretending to be me. I have no account… I don’t ever wanna (sic) be on Twitter. The person who is answering your questions is a fake. Let everybody know. I’m not on Twitter.”

Dame Elizabeth Taylor has dismissed reports she is engaged to wed for a ninth time – insisting the rumors “simply aren’t true”.

“The rumors regarding my engagement simply aren’t true. Jason is my manager and dearest friend. I love him with all my heart.”

Ricky Martin Says He’s ‘Gay’

Ricky Martin is no longer denying the rumors: He’s gay.
In a statement posted via Twitter in both Spanish and English, and later confirmed with his representative, Martin said:
“I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am.”
For many, Monday’s announcement will come as no surprise; the “Livin’ La Vida Loca” singer’s sexuality has been speculated about for years. But the Puerto Rican star, who got his start as a child in the teen group Menudo, never directly addressed it and was usually seen at events with beautiful women on his arm.
Martin, 38, said he decided to reveal the truth after working on his memoirs helped him realize that he had to be free with himself, and not keep any more secrets.
“From the moment I wrote the first phrase I was sure the book was the tool that was going to help me free myself from things I was carrying within me for a long time. Things that were too heavy for me to keep inside,” he said. “Writing this account of my life, I got very close to my truth. And this is something worth celebrating.”
Martin said one of the reasons why he kept his homosexuality hidden was because he was told by some that it would hurt his career. While his U.S. career peaked after the release of his 1999 self-titled English album, a multiplatinum success that included the hits “Livin’ La Vida Loca” and “Shake Your Bon-Bon,” he is still a hugely successful Latin artist.
“Because all this advice came from people who I love dearly, I decided to move on with my life not sharing with the world my entire truth,”
he said in his statement.
“Allowing myself to be seduced by fear and insecurity became a self-fulfilling prophecy of sabotage. Today I take full responsibility for my decisions and my actions.”
Martin, who is the father of two boys born via surrogate in 2008, said he couldn’t continue to hide his sexuality now that he is a father: “Enough is enough. This has to change.”
Martin’s book is still a work in progress.

24 Is Cancelled
![]()
Kiefer Sutherland’s hit TV show 24 has been axed.
The series, starring Sutherland as action man Jack Bauer, became an instant hit with TV audiences around the world when it premiered in 2001, but its current eighth season will be its last.
Show producers admitted last August they were unsure about the future of 24 and were preparing a number of alternative endings for series eight in case network bosses at Fox canceled the program.
Fans’ worst fears were proven on Friday when Sutherland’s co-star Mary Lynn Rajskub broke the news on her Twitter.com page.
She wrote,
“Just found out we got the word officially. This is 24′s last season.”
Fox bosses confirmed the news shortly afterwards, revealing it was a joint decision between them and Sutherland, who served as executive producer.
In a statement , Sutherland says,
“This has been the role of a lifetime, and I will never be able to fully express my appreciation to everyone who made it possible.
“While the end of the series is bittersweet, we always wanted 24 to finish on a high note, so the decision to make the eighth season our last was one we all agreed upon. This feels like the culmination of all our efforts from the writers to the actors to our fantastic crew and everyone at Fox.”
Fans will have one last chance to catch Jack Bauer in action after the last series wraps – a big screen version of 24 is currently in development.

Moore And Vardalos Help Save Suicidal Twitter Blogger
Filed under: Celebs Do Good,Demi Moore,Twitter

Actresses Demi Moore and Nia Vardalos have helped Florida authorities stage an intervention to save an allegedly suicidal man after they responded to his worrying message on social networking site Twitter.com.
The stars were among hundreds of people who replied to a post from a young man who threatened to hang himself in Casselberry, near Orlando in the early hours of Friday.
Moore appealed to the youngster with the username ‘jeremyllynch’ by writing,
“R U rlly (really) asking 4 (for) help?”, after he posted a note that read, “i’m going 2 (to) send a live feed of me hanging myself. No 1 (one) cares if I die or not.”
Vardalos also heard about the tragic message and phoned a suicide hotline for advice before being connected to Florida police, leading them to the man’s home.
Updating fans about the situation, the My Big Fat Greek Wedding actress wrote on her Twitter page,
“I gave his name+city. They went to home, helped him.”
Lieutenant Sonia Pisano from the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office confirmed an uninjured juvenile male had been taken to hospital by the cops, although she refused to reveal any further details.
Moore later thanked her followers for aiding the intervention. She wrote,
“Thank you twitterverse for your help supporting someone in pain last night.”
It’s the second time Moore has used her internet prowess on the social networking site to save a troubled soul after sparking a similar intervention by California police last year.
Nicely done ladies, I’m glad to see at least a few celebrities actually are reading their tweets and not just one one tweeting.

Seacrest Twitters ‘Idol’ secret

This … is not what “American Idol” producers or Fox would’ve preferred.
With 17 minutes remaining in Wednesday’s show, “Idol” host Ryan Seacrest told his 3 million-plus Twitter followers that Lacey Brown was eliminated and the contestant field had narrowed to 11. He used the tweet as a promotion for his early morning radio program that’s syndicated around the country.
“Packed radio show tomorrow…got tonight’s voted-off idol lacey brown,”
wrote Seacrest, who taped the reality behemoth from 6-7 p.m. at the CBS lot in Los Angeles.
The ill-thought move had ramifications. While Fox easily won the primetime ratings race and “Idol” was the most-watched show and the only program to garner more than 10 million viewers — competition was extremely weak, consisting mostly of repeats — the 6.6 rating in the 18-49 demo was one of the lowest in “Idol” history.
Twitter users who watch the show while tweeting at the same time time began revolting immediately when reading Seacrest’s post, and negative reaction continued Thursday. Neither “Idol” producer 19 Entertainment, Fox, nor Seacrest would comment, and Seacrest never apologized on his Twitter feed.
Of course, those West Coasters who can’t bear to wait until 9:55 to find out who was eliminated can always Google away, but Seacrest’s move to benefit his radio show at the expense of “Idol” couldn’t have played well with Fox.

Conan Turns Michigan Woman’s World Upside Down Over Twitter
Filed under: Conan O'Brien,Twitter

Last week, Sarah Killen had three Twitter followers.
This week, she has 20,000 — as well as a new iMac computer and offers to help pay for a dress and drinks for her wedding.
The unsuspecting rural Michigan woman has one out-of-work late-night talk show host to thank for her newfound online popularity – Conan O’Brien.
O’Brien decided last week to pick Killen as the only person he would follow on Twitter, turning the 19-year-old’s life upside down.
The deposed “Tonight Show” star whose exit deal with NBC barred him from TV appearances for several months, has taken to Twitter to reach the masses during his exile and has amassed more than a half-million followers.
But up until Friday, O’Brien had steadily increased his number of Twitter devotees without following the feeds of anybody else.
Enter Killen, who is finishing up her high school requirements, preparing to make the jump to college and getting married in September.
“I’ve decided to follow someone at random,” O’Brien’s posting read at 3:55 p.m. on Friday. “She likes peanut butter and gummy dinosaurs. Sarah Killen, your life is about to change.”
Boy, did it ever.
Immediately after O’Brien started following her, Killen — whose Twitter handle is “LovelyButton” — picked up followers at a rate of 150 per minute.
Then came the calls: Family, friends (actual and long-lost) and interview requests from Web sites, TV shows and radio stations.
She sleeps a few hours each night, has fallen woefully behind on her schoolwork and day-to-day activities such as laundry and rarely leaves the house.
“It’s totally nuts,” she said.
Until O’Brien plucked Killen from obscurity and turned her into an overnight Web celeb, she and fiance John Slowik Jr. lived a normal life, residing in the basement of a house in Conway Township, more than an hour’s drive west from Detroit.
It’s hard to say exactly what O’Brien’s motivation was — a message seeking comment was left with an O’Brien spokeswoman on Wednesday — but it’s had a profound effect on Killen and her 21-year-old fiance.
The exposure has resulted in a brand-new iMac, which was bought for them by a Florida businessman.
A New York designer is donating a wedding dress, and someone else is sending wine for the nuptials.
Not bad for a couple who saved $30 for the wedding, hadn’t reserved a location and faced the prospect of not being able to afford a wedding dress.
“People are saying that I’m asking for gifts and stuff, and I’m not,” Killen said.
What she is asking of her newfound army of Twitter followers is to contribute to charity, including the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
Still, Slowik says he’d love one more thing from the man who used to make them laugh nightly during his abbreviated “Tonight Show” run.
Slowik wants O’Brien to be his best man at the wedding.
Will he do it?
“I would hope so,” Killen said.

Kardashian Exposes U.S. Air Marshal On Twitter
Filed under: Kim Kardashian,Twitter

Kim Kardashian came under fire from her Twitter.com followers on Tuesday after she nearly disclosed the identity of an undercover U.S. air marshal while onboard a flight bound for Los Angeles.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star logged on to the micro-blogging website after boarding a plane in New York and told fans she was seated next to a top secret agent – whose identity is concealed to ensure the safety of fellow passengers.
She wrote:
“I’m on the airplane…love wifi. I am sitting next to an Air Marshall (sic)! Jim the air marshall (sic) makes me feel safe!”
Kardashian’s ‘tweet’ sparked fury among some of her followers, who raised concerns about the star exposing such privileged information.
But Kardashian brushed off the criticism and defended her air companion, whose full name was not revealed.
She responded:
“Relax I just told u guys the Air Marshall (sic) is sitting next to me, highly doubt anyone is twittering like me on this flight! Shhh.
“Air Marshall’s (sic) are supposed to keep their identity concealed. He did! I am just a private eye & assumed, so I asked him & he was honest!”
I’m betting it wasn’t even an Air Marshall. She might have assumed and asked the guy and he said yes. I doubt any real Air Marshall would risk his job to talk to Kim Kardashian!
